I am grateful for Electricity! Yes Electricity, with out it I would not be able to post on a blog let alone be able to cook, have light heat, computers, smart phones or even Internet. So many people take electricity for granted but when it goes out people realize that this day and age we are so reliant on it.
The New Year (2017) is now upon us! Many people will make “New Years Resolutions” too only abandon them a few days after making them. I prefer to at the begging of the year to take inventory of my past year, taking note of the successes of 2016
Last year (2016) saw lots of success, which I celebrate such as the fact that I managed to pay off two items that where in collections as well I was able to pay off my Samsung tablet that I had financed. Some of the other success that I have had in 2016 where in my businesses with both substantial growth in both Brent Dynamics (information technology services) as well root.MEDIA (web services provider), I had even migrated all of my clients for root.MEDIA from my previous service provider to my new service provider with out any downtime or major disruptions to my clients websites, and other Internet of Things.
In 2016 I also saw that through my faithfulness in my service at Relate Church brought me new opportunities to grow and serve in a much greater capacity as one of the Director/Producers for the live Internet stream which I am very grateful for. I have made new and lasting relationships through the small groups that I attended through the Church, having a circle of entrepreneurs that I can call friends.
Other successes of 2016 are coming to the realization that I needed help dealing with my “Depression and Anxiety” and taking the steps necessary to get the support I needed.
Looking Forward to 2017
I can only imagine what 2017 will bring my way, like what opportunities will I a get to grow my businesses, my faith and relationships. Over the next few days I will spend sometime focusing on setting goals for the year to come!
I already know a couple of my goals for 2017, one of which is to deal with the last item that I have in collections and get it paid off. Another goal for 2017 is and will happen sooner than later is that I will be getting my Forklift Ticket thanks to my brother. I could go on and on with what could be a never ending goal list.
Happy New Year!
Well, here we are again at the end of another year and Christmas is upon use. As it is now Christmas I want to just take a moment and reflect on the past year that has been such a blessing. I can say that I am definitely further ahead and doing so much better than I was from last Christmas. I am fee much better than I have in the past, I have learned so much and grown in the past year
The past twelve months have not been easy, they have been down right tough at times, but I can say through it all I have come for the better. First off with one of my business root.MEDIA where I ended up having to migrate my entire client base from one service provider to an entirely new provider and getting tough with some of my clients that they needed to pay for the services that I was providing them and that there are no more free rides. Brent Dynamics has seen some growth as well over the past year with the information technology services as well I have been doing a fair bit of work outside the information technology arena where I have been doing some physical labour work with my brother at TerraCana Foundation Solutions where I have gained some valuable experience with operating a Forklift.
Another thing that I have done this year is I have taken my personal health and well being. I was at a point earlier this year that something needed to change and that I needed to get help with my constant and on going battle with depression and anxiety. That change came by me making an effort to go and seeing a Psychiatrist and getting on medication. I also have been attending Cognitive Behavior Therapy that has given me many tools in coping and dealing with my depression and anxiety issues. Though I am not complete or free and clear of depression and anxiety I am doing and functioning much better.
Another thing that I have been doing is ti have been doing nutritional supplements from USANA which had greatly help me with my overall energy, and feeling better about myself. As I know I can’t get better if I do not give my body the proper nutrients to help it’s self get better.
On the financial front I can say that I have made some major progress, I am doing better and in the process of rebuilding my personal credit by being diligent and making arrangements with creditors and keeping them. I can say that I will have paid off three of my creditors by the end of the year leaving just a small amount of debt that I will be working on in this coming year.
Looking forward to the new year
I Have broken away from the main stream of computers or should I say the main stream of Operating Systems on my computer, which I have 3 computers that I use on a daily basis,. Two Desktops and One Laptop, One of my Desktops is dedicated to Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Server as it is the one system that runs my Asterisk System. My other desktop is duel boot Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS Desktop and Windows 7 Professional, but I can not remember the last time I booted the my desktop into windows. My laptop is also configured to duel boot Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS and Windows 7 Professional.
On my laptop I do boot into windows more often as I do find that some games will only operate on windows and not on Linux, as well there are a few sites that I monitor that require me to use Microsoft Internet Explorer to access, other than that and a couple other systems that I can only access using windows. I primarily use Linux, the nice thing about Linux is that it comes with or should I say has access to countless free applications that are equivalent to some of the major software that costs hundred if not thousands of dollar, but for FREE.
I can do the same stuff that people do using Adobe Products, Microsoft Office and so much more and it costs nothing, The other thing I love about Linux is I get to choose what and when I wish to do updates to the system. I also love that Linux out of the box or should I say fresh install is more secure than any Windows or OSX Installation, as well I do not have fears of my privacy been compromised but operating system like Microsoft Windows 10 does.
Threats of Virus are next to none with Linux based operating system. I have even found that while running Ubuntu my system out preforms that of the same tasks on Windows.
Countless hours of uninterrupted entertainment too key my from getting cabin fever when the weather gets really nasty out side and I can not get out for my usual walks. I can always find something that will spark my interest from action films and TV shows to documentaries of all kinds from social to music. Though it is not the same as me getting out and going for my long walks that I do enjoy.
